Project Manager - Los Angeles, CA

Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.  Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods and represents the organization in meetings to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work.  

Managerial responsibilities at this level involves supervision of all staff necessary to complete assignments.  Reviews and approves scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.  Prepares proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs.

Business development responsibilities include maintaining a network of clients and obtaining repeat work from those clients.

Membership in a professional practice organization with service as a board member or officer is encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, Masters degree a plus.

  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in structural engineering on similar projects as listed in firm summary.

  • Experience in project management role overseeing and evaluating the work of design engineers and providing all correspondence with other project disciplines.

  • PE license, SE preferred as well.

  • Preferred but not required computer knowledge in RISA 3D, RISA Floor, Microsoft Excel, SAFE, ETABS, Bluebeam, Ram Structural Systems and Enercalc.

  • Ability to accept a high degree of responsibility in a team-based organization, combined with ability to work independently.

  • The applicant will need to have strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Experience with BIM tools such as REVIT structural.

Job Requirements

  • Work competently on an individual basis.

  • Undertake detailed engineering design for gravity and lateral systems of building structures from all material types.

  • Manage project design requirements, correspond with clients and other disciplines and oversee multiple design engineers.

  • Communicate directly with clients and building officials.

  • Prepare design development and construction documents.

  • Create and interpret data from 3D structural analysis models using commercial software as listed in qualifications.

  • Keep senior staff informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and the objectives of the clients being achieved.

  • Assist in progressing standards and technical knowledge of office.

  • Willingness to travel up to 15% to ensure adequate support of Kurt Fischer Structural Engineering’s projects.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Compensation
